ExxonMobil Egypt, the leading oil manufacturer and marketer, announced its participation in the first nationwide blood donation campaign launched by the Egyptian petroleum sector.
The campaign – under the patronage of Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tareq Mulla – was launched in tandem with the Health Ministry. Mulla inaugurated the campaign by being the first donor on June 18.
The campaign was spearheaded in response to a proposal filed by the sub-committee for petroleum companies’ social initiatives which was launched in September 2018 under Nihad Shelbaya, the Head of Public and Government Affairs at ExxonMobil Egypt, in order to magnify the petroleum sector’s national and social contributions.
The Petroleum Ministry urged workers in the sector to take part in the initiative which is a national duty and voluntary work to help those in need of blood transfusion.
Meanwhile, Eng. Hesham Elamroussy, the Chasirman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil Egypt and the General Manager of Lubricants, MENA region, urged all the company’s workers to donate blood within the framework of the campaign.
Elamroussy said “Social responsibility and voluntary work are cornerstone of the culture of work at the company. We have a record in voluntary campaigns and social initiatives in various parts of Egypt.”
He highlighted the importance of spreading awareness among people about the importance of blood donation.
For her part, Shelbaya said “the sub committee for petroleum companies’ social initiatives focuses on four scores; namely health, education, awareness campaigns and long-term projects.”
She added “We hope that the blood donation campaign would succeed in attaining the aspired goals.”
ExxonMobil Egypt has been always keen to carry out its social responsibility and support various sectors, topped by public and vocational education, women empowerment and honing youths’ skills. The company’s social responsibility was not confined to financial support, but it went further to include voluntary work which is vital for buttressing various development initiatives.
