Egypt’s tycoon Mohamed Abul-Enein, CEO of Ceramica Cleopatra Group, donated EGP 78 million to support state efforts in the face of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
This falls within the framework of cooperation of the private sector and civil society associations with the state to curb the spread of the pandemic.
These efforts are also meant to mitigate the social and economic fallout of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli hailed the positive initiative by Abul-Enein which represented an example of the private sector’s cooperation with the government.
This highlighted the importance of the social role of companies, the premier added.
Abul-Enein noted that about EGP 25 million of the total sum will go to Tahya Misr fund to reinforce its outstanding efforts in the face of the coronavirus crisis, he said.
He noted that Ceramica Cleopatra Group joined hands with the Third Field Army Command to fully upgrade El Sabah Hospital in Suez city at a total cost of EGP 24 million.
After renovations, the hospital will be ready to be used by the Health Ministry as an isolation hospital.
Abul-Enein added that about EGP 3.3 million went to securing needed medical equipment, noting that he contacted the head of the General Organization For Teaching Hospitals and Institutes to extend medical supplies to hospitals.
The company supported the Imbaba fever hospital, the Sohag educational hospital and the Zagazing Ahrar hospital.
He added that the Abul-Enein Charitable Association earmarked EGP 25 million for most needy families and villages in various Egyptian governorates.
Within this context, about 150,000 foodstuff packages were distributed among vulnerable people. Moreover, the company launched campaigns to disinfect streets, facilities, mosques, churches, schools and post offices in Giza within 25 days.
Meanwhile, he underlined the company’s commitment to the directives of the state to maintain all its employees despite of the crisis. The company has maintained all its employees – who are estimated at more than 25,000. The company pays about EGP 50 million monthly salaries.
Abul-Enein commended the arduous efforts being exerted by the state to contain the COVID-19 ciris.
He said the state has taken a number of social and economic measures to help the Egyptians bear the consequences of the crisis and support the economy.
