The Egyptian Food Bank won for the second year in row the global yearly call of the Bel Foundation, Bel Group’s philanthropic arm – the owner of La Vache Qui Rit, Kiri, Abu El Walad, and Babybel.
The Bel Foundation also announced that Caritas Egypt was among the winners.
The Call for Projects was announced globally in 2021, where several Egyptian NGOs applied, to bring concrete and durable solutions for better nutrition for children.
In 2021/2022, the Bel Foundation will support the Egyptian Food Bank to contribute to the School Feeding Program through revamping and equipping 19 new schools kitchens in 10 governorates which cater for 33,000 children targeted.
As for Caritas Egypt, the Bel Foundation will help the NGO consolidate a school kitchen in one of the centers of Caritas Egypt impacting targeted children.
“We are extremely proud to step forward every year, as well as focus our action on particularly strengthening schools’ kitchens where every child, wherever they live, must have access to a healthy meal at school. In fact, we have been supporting 334 projects, of which 124 projects were sponsored by employees, collaborated with more than 230 NGOs, and have been active in 44 countries in line with the Group’s mission that reflects its values.” said Isabelle Fiévet, Executive Director of Bel Corporate Foundation.
Isabelle Fiévet added that “‘Championing Responsible and Healthier Food for All’ reflects Bel Group’s robust commitments and capacities to support the communities in which we operate. We are keen to partake in a number of different regions in order to help find real and lasting solutions to child malnutrition, while remaining attentive to the specific needs of each community as per every market’s vision towards nutrition.”
Haitham Essam, Head of HR of Bel Egypt and North East Africa, stated that “We are pleased that two Egyptian NGOs won, since Egypt is among the strategic markets for Bel, reinforced by a strong footprint in the sustainable development file. We are also committed to contributing to the Egyptian community, especially when it comes to the children’s nutrition value, being aligned with the “School Feeding Program” initiative that was introduced by President El Sisi as part of Egypt’s 2030 vision, along with the UN SDGs the 2nd and 10th “Zero Hunger” and “Reduced inequalities”.
