Educators across Europe can benefit from a new online training program to improve their understanding of and skills in teaching digital citizenship education across Europe.
On 11 May 2022, “What is digital citizenship education?” the first in a series of online courses on digital citizenship education was launched and broadcast on the Council of Europe’s Facebook page hosting more than 120 participants.
The Council of Europe in close cooperation with the European Wergeland Center has been developing a comprehensive online training program to support educators and other education stakeholders.
The course explores the following questions; what does it mean for young learners to be digital citizens in today’s society?, What are the aims and purposes of digital citizenship education?, and How to integrate digital citizenship education into everyday practice.
Through this online course, educators will have the opportunity to work together with fellow professionals on real-life examples.
Further educators will deepen their knowledge on how to plan digital citizenship learning experiences that will engage and empower students to become active citizens in a world dominated by digital technology.
