The Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) teamed up with e-Finance – a pioneer national developer of digital payments infrastructure – to launch eHealth for developing technological solutions and digital services of the health sector.
This falls within the framework of Egypt’s efforts to develop the health sector.
This is also part of e-Finance strategy for expanding digital transformation solutions in all key sectors in the Egyptian market.
EHealth, a sister company of e-Finance, will be in charge of managing and operating technological services of the comprehensive health insurance mechanism – which is an ambitious health insurance system sponsored by the state to secure high-level health services to all Egyptians under an obligatory social solidarity system in which the state will bear the cost for needy people.
The company will also offer specialized and integrated digital services for the health insurance sector and the health sector in general, starting from daily management and operation of health and insurance technological systems to technical support.
EHealth will provide digital solutions to health and insurance authorities to develop their technological systems in view of the state’s keenness on offering top-notch services.
Moreover, the new company will offer artificial intelligence services, solutions for monitoring and data analysis, smart information systems and decision-support solutions.
The company will manage e-payment services which include managing the multi-purpose unified citizen card in collaboration with a governmental e-payment center, e-payment channels, banking institutions as well as technical support services and medical authorities concerned.
EHealth will offer to the health sector all needed services and solutions for managing operations and offering technical support through centers for communications and technical support.

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait – the UHIA head – expressed happiness about launching eHealth company which represents a key step on the road of developing the health mechanism in Egypt in accordance with Egypt Vision 2030.
This also comes in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, he said.
He noted that since Sisi’s launch of the all-out health insurance mechanism, the government is working on securing all needed tools to achieve the aspired target of changing the concept of healthcare and providing the best medical care for all Egyptians. Therefore, it was important to launch a specialized company like eHealth.
UHIA CEO Hossam Sadek said the authority was keen on launching eHealth for digital solutions for health services in order to meet the main goal of the new health mechanism which is reducing the burdens relevant to the health care services.
The state seeks to offer the best healthcare services using up-to-date medical means and advanced digital mechanisms.
Ehealth will ensure digital transformation of the health services and put an end to corruption and dereliction in the health sector in order to offer highly-efficient services.
CEO of e-Finance Ibrahim Sarhan expressed pride for launching eHealth to support this vital sector of health through offering all needed digital solutions.
He said “developing any sector through fitting it out with digital services and digital transformation solutions will benefit all parties of this sector directly and swiftly.”
Through digital services, the authority concerned can accumulate its data and analyze it precisely to take the best decision in addition to cutting spending and wisely managing resources and manpower.
As for service-recipients, they will get their services easily and swiftly through the internet and will also pay for these services without any effort.
EHealth is a new achievement of the amazing e-Finance working team and underscores the limitless ambitions of the company and its keenness on contributing to the state’s digital transformation strategy.
