Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem said the ministry plans to organize 1,173 cultural activities in 106 villages in seven governorates within the framework of the second stage of the ministry’s participation in the presidential initiative “Decent Life”.
The second stage has been spearheaded in August in course and will continue until February 2022, she said, noting that the ministry’s participation in the initiative falls within the context of realizing cultural justice which aims at getting people nationwide to get acquainted with cultural and artistic works.
She noted that the activities due to be organized will focus on all age and social categories, adding that musical and theatrical shows will be presented alongside workshops in the fields of arts and literature.
She added that activities will be organized to discover talents alongside handicraft workshops.
The seven governorates which are targeted in the second stage are the Upper Egypt governorates of Assiut and Qena as well as Kafr El Sheikh, Fayoum, Ismailia, Sharqiya and Beheira.
Under the second stage, the ministry will organize cultural activities in 18 villages in Assiut, five villages in Qena, 25 villages in Fayoum, six villages in in Ismailia, 16 villages in Kafr el Sheikh, 28 villages in Sharqiya and eight villages in Beheira.
The Confrontation and Roaming Theater will present four plays in 145 villages in 15 governorates; namely Beheira, Kafr el Sheikh, Daqahlia, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Sohag, Menya, Assiut, New Valley, Gharbiya, Sharqiya, Menofiya, Aswan, Luxor and Qena.
The plays will be displayed in 145 nights until January 2022.
The presidential initiative “Decent Life” is meant to change the lives of millions of Egyptians through improving their living conditions.
The initiative is meant to serve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially combating poverty, securing decent houses for people, and creating jobs.
The initiative aims at developing more than 4,500 villages nationwide within the coming three years at a total budget of about EGP 700 billion.
This is the first time for a sole national project to aim at serving about 58 percent of Egypt’s population.
