The Commercial International Bank (CIB) decided to donate EGP 25 million to finance a five-year comprehensive partnership between the faculty of medicine of Ain Shams University and UK’s GOSH, which is one of key children hospital in the world.
Under the partnership, the two sides will engage in at least two scientific researches per year. Moreover, different pediatric specialties will visit the new children hospital which Ain Shams University opened recently, to review the policies and measures adopted, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Ain Shams University said in press statements.
Four young pediatricians will travel annually to GOSH in London for a three-month training, Dr Mohamed el Matina said.
The CIB has been active in supporting the Egyptian health sector in general and children’s health in particular.
In June, the CIB Foundation in collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent organized blood donation campaigns for the CIB employees at the bank’s headquarters in Smart Village, Mobtadayan and Giza.
Under the slogan “Bring a Smile to a Child This Ramadan”, a number of employees from CIB participated in decorating the Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357 to bring the Ramadan spirit to the patients. During the event, the volunteers used Ramadan-themed decorations and lanterns; in addition, the volunteers distributed giveaways on the children and their families. The event comes as a part of a partnership between CIB Foundation and Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, which has been going on for more than 10 years.
CIB has been keen on offering all needed help for Egyptian children and this was quite apparent in June when the CIB Foundation participated in celebrating orphans’ day at the premises of the Egyptian Stock Exchange in Cairo. For the past four years, the Egyptian Stock Exchange organizes a fundraising event to support a number of orphanages as part of its social responsibility towards Egyptian children. The CIB Foundation sent a mobile dental convoy to provide dental services to about 50 orphans attending the event.
In April, the CIB Foundation organized three drawing/coloring events for underprivileged children. The theme of the drawing events was “Discovering Egypt in the Eyes of Our Children”, and the purpose of these events was to bring happiness to those children while boosting their sense of how beautiful Egypt is. Their art was used in the foundation’s activity report in a form of a separator and as post cards.
Also in April, the foundation arranged and sponsored a trip for children of the MOVE Foundation for Children with Cerebral Palsy to KidZania. The children explored and performed several professions and were engaged in various activities in a unique fully-fledged edutainment environment.
In February, employees from the Commercial International Bank along with their families participated in packing more than 4,000 school bags. The school bags were equipped with personal hygiene items, colors and coloring books which contain educational material to raise children’s awareness on the importance of personal hygiene with a special focus on the cleanliness and health of their eye.
During the first semester of the academic year 2018/2019, CIB Foundation organized 60 eye caravans “6/6 Eye Exam Caravan” in four governorates; Sohag, Qena, Luxor and Aswan, in collaboration with Gozour Foundation for Development, during which 43,109 students from 60 public elementary schools were examined, out of which 5948 students were provided with prescription glasses.
