Philippe Peguilhan, Country Manager of Carrefour Egypt at Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said Carrefour is taking the first steps towards sustainability by introducing biodegradable shopping bags in its new gourmet store in Downtown Katameya in the Fifth Settlement in New Cairo.
This goes in line with the company’s pledge to eliminate plastic use across all its hypermarkets by 2025.
He made the remarks during the opening of the new store.
He added that the Carrefour company is planning to inject an additional EGP 250 million into the Egyptian market this year to support the Egyptian economy.
He said the new store aims to provide the Egyptian community with a premium experience by offering exclusive, artisanal products and seamless services.
In addition to the store’s extensive product offerings, it is also the first Carrefour store in the country to introduce advanced technologies, such as self-checkout system, to ensure speed and efficiency for a convenient customer experience.
