BSH Egypt will start building its first Africa factory in Egypt’s 10th of Ramadan city by 2020. The factory will produce eco-friendly kitchen appliance.
The company will employ “idas” technology which saves more than 57 percent of water consumption and cuts greenhouse gas emissions, the company’s marketing manager Mohamed Talaat said at a press conference.
The company’s sustainable products will be saving water and electricity, he said.
The company backs innovation and seeks to offer its customers a healthier and more balanced lifestyle, he added.
Meanwhile, BSH Egypt CEO Luis Alvarez said the company has recently signed a memo with the Egyptian government to open the factory in 2021.
He said the company eyes to devour 20 to 25 percent of the Egyptian home appliance market within the coming five years.
He underlined the company’s commitment to promoting the Egyptian economy through offering jobs and training sessions for youths.
During the inking ceremony of the memo, Dr. Konrad Pagenstert, COO of BSH in the region, highlighted Egypt’s importance for the company: “Egypt will be the focal point of our manufacturing activities in Africa, and we have had a tremendous support from the Egyptian government. We have recruited many qualified engineers and business professionals and have found excellent local suppliers. Our site will allow us to expand the range of products in response to the specific requirements of other African and Middle-East markets.”
