Banque Misr copped the award of the best Egyptian bank in the corporate social responsibility (CSR) domain in 2020, according to the Global Banking and Finance Review.
The assessment for the winner is based on a number of criteria concerning the bank’s strategy, performance and its CSR activities.
The bank won the award for the second straight year for its outstanding efforts in the CSR score.
Banque Misr is committed to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) – an independent international organization that has pioneered sustainability reporting since 1997, and the United National Global Compact – a UN initiative that establishes ten general principles for companies’ CSR activities.
Banque Misr has recently won a number of international awards in the CSR score. The bank was named as the best bank in Egypt in the CSR domain in 2018 and the best in the field of environmental sustainability in 2019 by the Global Business Outlook.
The International Business Magazine named the bank as the best bank in Egypt in the CSR domain in 2018 and 2019.
The International Finance magazine named Banque Misr as the best in the field of CSR in 2019.
The bank copped about 23 awards and advanced positions during 2019 from heavyweight international associations and magazines.
The bank has recently been engaged in four CSR initiatives that were implemented in tandem with the civil society organizations.
The bank implemented an 80-million-pound initiative in collaboration with the Federation of Egyptian Banks to support daily wage workers and families affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.
The bank has also joined hands with the Egyptian Food Bank and the Misr El Kheir foundation to provide about 10,500 food packages for needy families.
It also engaged in a donation campaign in collaboration with the American Chamber of Commerce to secure needed medical equipment for the Health Ministry to confront the coronavirus.
The bank has collaborated with the Misr El Kheir Foundation for the reconstruction of 24 houses affected by the recent wave of torrential rains in villages of the Upper Egypt governorate of Menya.
It is worth mentioning that the Banque Misr spent over EGP 750 million on CSR projects in 2018-2019 fiscal year, marking a EGP 100 million rise in comparison with the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
The bank contributes to a large number to projects, especially in the fields of education, health and rural development, with an aim to realize social development.
The bank also worked on creating jobs as well as empowering youth and women, particularly female breadwinners.
