Banque Misr has allocated EGP 50 million to bolster the efforts exerted to serve the neediest villages under the presidential initiative “Decent Life”.
This falls within the framework of the bank’s pioneering role in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The move is meant to create over 2,400 job opportunities through supporting the implementation of projects, specifically tailored for supporting poor families living in the ‘Decent Life’ villages across seven governorates; namely Beni Suef, Fayoum, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Dakahlia, and Gharbia.
This noble efforts – in collaboration with the Ministry of Solidarity and Misr El Kheir Foundation – stands as a testament to Banque Misr’s prominent role in the CSR domain.
A cooperation protocol was signed in this regard by Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for NGOs, Mohamed Etribi, Chairman of Banque Misr, and Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Misr El Kheir Foundation.
Social Solidarity Minister Nevine Kabbaj underscored that this protocol brings together two influential partners who engage in effective collaboration with governmental bodies to achieve sustainable development goals.
Their combined efforts are dedicated to addressing comprehensive rights, spanning healthcare, education, social welfare, scientific research, community engagement, and various development domains, with the ultimate goal of eradicating unemployment, illiteracy, poverty, and disease, she added.
Kabbaj emphasized that economic empowerment programs hold a prominent position on the Egyptian state’s agenda, whether initiated by government, civil, or private sector organizations. Economic empowerment is considered an indispensable tool for effectively addressing the issue of poverty.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity has adopted an approach that combines social protection with economic empowerment, recognizing that work and production are pivotal aspects that must be extended to local communities. This approach encompasses livelihood improvement, food security, human capital investment, enhanced quality of life, and active participation in shaping both the present and future of the nation, she said.
The Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized that small and micro-enterprises constitute fundamental pillars of any country’s economy. They not only play a significant role in resolving economic crises for populations but can also have an effective impact on improving the overall economy, not just the microeconomy. Consequently, the Ministry of Social Solidarity takes on the responsibility of supporting entrepreneurs.
Chairman of Banque Misr Mohamed Etribi stressed the bank’s commitment to collaborate with civil society institutions and support initiatives aimed at bolstering economic empowerment among the most vulnerable families of Decent Life villages. This commitment aligns with the directives of the Egyptian state, which strives to back this social strata under the presidential initiative ‘Decent Life’ and the overarching national initiative aimed at the development of rural Egypt in pursuit of Egypt’s 2030 vision.
The collaboration encompasses a diverse range of projects, including craftsmanship, commerce, and services, to meet the needs of the governorates. These efforts are poised to have a positive impact by generating employment opportunities and delivering returns that contribute to improving vulnerable families’ living standards, ultimately fostering synergy between community development and economic empowerment.
For his part, Ali Gomaa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the “Misr El-Kheir” Foundation, highlighted the Foundation’s central motto, which underscores its primary mission of human development.
He elaborated on the Foundation’s multifaceted contributions across various sectors of society, including healthcare, education, scientific research, social solidarity, and various aspects of daily life.
He lauded this collaboration which highlight the responsible social roles played by “Misr El Kheir” Foundation Banque Misr.
