Amazon announced donating more than one million meals for the second straight year to support needy families in Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan during the holy month of Ramadan.
Amazon said hundreds of its employees teamed up with community partners to pack food hampers at Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers across the Arab World within the framework of the company’s commitment to its corporate social responsibility (CSR) role.
Partnering with regional food banks and charities, Amazon will provide grocery and staple food supplies for underserved and underprivileged families.
Amazon secured – in collaboration with the Egyptian Food Bank – thousands of food parcels for needy families.
Commenting on the occasion, Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank, praised Amazon for its contribution to the food bank, said “We always seek to cooperate with our partners to shoulder our main responsibility; namely securing healthy food for needy families.
”Our partnership with Amazon promotes our continued charitable efforts, especially during the holy fasting month of Ramadan,” he added.
Meanwhile, General Manager of Amazon Egypt Omar El Sahy said “Amazon has a longstanding commitment of working alongside community partners. Therefore, we are happy to deliver more than one million meals to support needy families during the holy month of Ramadan.”
