Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait – Egypt (ABK-Egypt) donated EGP 1 million to Aswan Heart Center (AHC) within the framework of a number of community well-being initiatives launched by the bank during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The Center in Upper Egypt is a charitable cardiac center, founded by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub to treat underprivileged pediatric and adult patients. The Center currently operates 92 beds all year-round. In view of this, ABK-Egypt’s contribution will cover 10 heart surgeries for children in need, as the cost per operation is estimated to be EGP 100,000, as well as help sustain these operations at the highest standards of treatment and patient care.
ABK-Egypt joined hands with Geziret El Kheir Foundation to support social development initiatives. The foundation was recently established by Gezira Sporting Club in a bid to promote social inclusion of the poor and vulnerable by empowering the rural population of Egypt. The Bank presented a donation of EGP 50,000 to the President of Gezira Sporting Club.
In the spirit of giving, ABK-Egypt will also partner with Dar El Orman Association during this month to distribute food packages to families and the under-privileged across Egypt.
ABK-Egypt is committed to community improvement through its corporate citizenship programs and is an active supporter of a range of causes and initiatives in Egypt, with heavy emphasis on education, environment, youth, arts and culture.
