The Arab Hospitals Federation (AHF) granted the “Distinguished Leader” award to AstraZeneca Egypt, a leading healthcare service company, for its role in promoting private-public cooperation in the health domain in Egypt.
AstraZeneca Egypt Board Chairman Hatem Werdany was handed over the award on the fringe of the Arab Healthcare Development Annual Forum (AHDAF) which was held on January 10-11 in Egypt.
AstraZeneca Egypt was taking part in the third edition of the Arab forum to review means of boosting investments in the healthcare domain via promoting public-private partnerships in order to achieve comprehensive health coverage and develop the health sector in Arab countries.
The award came in appreciation of the company’s efforts over the past period to promote healthcare services in Egypt.
AstraZeneca plans within the coming three years to up the local component in all its products to 50 percent in addition to its strategy to localize some of its medical products in accordance with the Egyptian State plans to localize industries.
Wardany said the company is interested in being an effective member in the community and contributing to upgrading the healthcare sector to offer better services.
He underlined that the company is keen on introducing initiatives and organizing various forums to develop the healthcare sector in Egypt.
He referred to the company’s participation in various medical and social programs and initiatives that contribute to supporting Egyptian patients through securing best medicine in collaboration all bodies concerned. This comes in light of the AstraZeneca’s belief in its role as a responsible investor interested in developing community and achieving Egypt Vision 2030.
It is worth mentioning that AstraZeneca Egypt launched “Accelerating Change Together for Cancer Care in Africa” (ACT- CCA) under the patronage of the Egyptian Health Ministry.
The company’s sustainability strategy is based on offering healthcare services. AstraZeneca has collaborated with Egypt’s Healthcare Authority to secure green field hospital during the 27th United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP27) that was held in Egypt in November 2022.
