Thirteen Egyptian universities were listed on the 2022 QS World University Rankings which was issued in June 2021.
Featuring 1,300 universities from around the world, this year’s university rankings are the largest ever. Each institution has been assessed according to six metrics; academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty ratio, and international student ratio.
The 13 Egyptian universities occupied the second position with regard to the number of the Arab universities listed on the Qs World University Rankings.
The Egyptian universities on the list included the American University in Cairo, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Al-Azhar University, Alexandria University, Assiut University, the British University in Egypt, Suez Canal University, the German University in Cairo, Helwan University, Mansoura University, Tanta University, and Zagazig University.
Saudi Arabia came in the first position among Arab universities on the list with fourteen universities.
The Saudi universities on the list are King Abdulaziz University (KAU), King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), King Khalid University, Jouf University, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd university, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, Islamic University of Madinah, King Faisal University, Qassim University, Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University – IMSIU, and Taibah University.
The UAE came in the third position with ten universities on the list; namely Khalifa University, the United Arab Emirates University, the American University in Dubai, University of Sharjah, the American University in Dubai, the Canadian University in Dubai, Zayed University, Abu Dhabi University, Ajman University, and Al Ain University.
Jordan and Lebanon came in the fourth position with each having eight universities on the list.
The Jordanian universities on the list are University of Jordan, German Jordanian University, Jordan University of Science & Technology, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Mutah University, Al-Balqa Applied University, The Hashemite University, and Yarmouk University.
The Lebanese university on the list are the American University of Beirut (AUB), University of Balamand, Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ), Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, Lebanese American University, Lebanese University, Notre Dame University-Louaize( NDU), and Beirut Arab University.
Iraq came in the fifth position with five universities on the list;
University of Baghdad, Mustansiriyah University, University of Kufa, University of Babylon, and University of Basrah.
Kuwait, Tunisia and the occupied Palestinian territories came in the sixth position with each having three universities on the list.
The Kuwaiti universities on the list are the American University of the Middle East, the Gulf University for Science and Technology, and the Kuwait University.
The Tunisian universities on the list are Université de Sousse, Université de Tunis and Université de Tunis El Manar.
The Palestinian universities on the list are Al Quds University The Arab University in Jerusalem, An-Najah National University and Birzeit university.
Bahrain came in the seventh position with two Bahraini universities on the list; Applied Science University, and University of Bahrain.
Syria, Morocco, Oman and Qatar came in the eighth position with each having one university on the list; namely Damascus University, Université Mohammed V de Rabat, Sultan Qaboos University, and Qatar University respectively.
The top world universities on the list are Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Oxford, Stanford University, University of Cambridge, and Harvard University.
