{"id":120422,"date":"2026-09-22T18:43:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T15:43:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/?p=120422"},"modified":"2026-09-22T18:43:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T15:43:52","slug":"hitachi-vantara-targets-net-zero-by-fy2040-after-43-emissions-cut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/hitachi-vantara-targets-net-zero-by-fy2040-after-43-emissions-cut\/","title":{"rendered":"Hitachi Vantara targets net zero by FY2040 after 43% emissions cut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas<a href=\"https:\/\/csregypt.com\/en\/700-climate-pledge-signatories-cut-emissions-11-outpacing-peers\/\"> emissions<\/a> across its global value chain by fiscal year 2040 (FY2040), following a 43% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in FY2025.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The company said its near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets have been independently validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), reinforcing its climate strategy and accountability.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>Targets set path to FY2040 net zero:<\/b><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Hitachi Vantara has committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 98% by FY2030 from an FY2024 baseline.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The company also aims to cut Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 51% per usable petabyte of storage capacity sold by FY2036 and by 97% by FY2040, compared with the FY2024 baseline.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Renewables drive emissions reduction:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The company said its 43% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in FY2025 was largely driven by obtaining 50% of its energy from renewable sources.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Hitachi Vantara also expanded lifecycle sustainability initiatives across its Virtual Storage Platform One (VSP One) data platform, covering its block, file and object portfolios, while strengthening greenhouse gas emissions governance, data quality and audit readiness.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">The company is working to align its broader product portfolio with the Hitachi Eco-Design Management Guidelines.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Focus on data infrastructure efficiency:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Hitachi Vantara said it is also helping customers improve data infrastructure efficiency and reduce environmental impacts as demand for data and artificial intelligence continues to grow.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Its VSP 360 Clear Sight solution provides visibility into energy use and carbon impact across VSP environments and offers recommendations to improve operational efficiency.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Customer results cited by the company include DestekBank, which reduced data center energy consumption by 25% and total cost of ownership by 20%, while Malayala Manorama cut power and cooling costs by 70% and data center rack space by 66%.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Garanti BBVA estimates that its Hitachi Vantara storage systems consume around 30% less energy than competing systems, while Aquiris deployed VSP One Block to support water treatment operations while reducing power use and its carbon footprint.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its global value chain by fiscal year 2040 (FY2040), following a 43% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in FY2025.
